An international ‘mela’

In an attempt to improve and showcase the diplomatic relationship between India and Germany, Urban Mela is being organised in the Capital. After Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, the nine day long Mela will take place in Delhi at Indraprastha Millennium Park, from October 27 to November 4.

In an attempt to improve and showcase the diplomatic relationship between India and Germany, Urban Mela is being organised in the Capital. After Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, the nine day long Mela will take place in Delhi at Indraprastha Millennium Park, from October 27 to November 4. “The Urban Mela offers a very rich array of cultural programmes that span from electronic music to classical fusion,” says Heiko Sievers , Regional Director South Asia of Goethe-Institute.

With 16 specially designed pavilions which aim to improve city/urban lifestyle, the Dilliwaalas can see and enjoy live music and dance performances, film screenings and more with free entry for all. Some of the band performance lined up for the event include Indian Ocean, Audio Visual collective BLOT!, Jahcoozi, Asad Khan and Fusion Messengers and The Ska Vengers. Apart from the live music the festival will also feature poetry and science slams, readings by prominent authors under the programme ‘Hold the Novel’ and ‘Novel Tree’, contemporary dance performance by Attakalari Centre for Movement Arts and a dance performance by German dancer and choreographer Felix Burkle.



Along with this there will also be Indo German cuisine for the public to try and give their taste buds something new and exciting. There will be a Beergarden present at the Mela where German delicacies like German Beer, Potato salad with frankfurters, Bavarian Meatloaf, soft pretzel burger with chicken will be available. Indian specialties like Lucknowi Vegetable Biryani and Paneer Khurchan with pao will also be a part of the menu.

With a wide range of activities, shows, exhibitions and mind-expanding experiences, there really is something for everyone at the Indo-German Urban Mela.
