Artists, stand in queue: Galleries in Delhi are booked for a year
Places can be booked against cancellations but there is no guarantee.
If you are an artist, postpone your plans to showcase your creativity, popular galleries in the city are booked for the whole year!

“After July we will open bookings of Visual Arts Gallery for 2018. The gallery is booked till 2017,” says Alka Pande, consultant, art advisor and curator of the gallery at India Habitat Centre.
Pande explains why some select galleries are in demand, “Lado Sarai may be the art district of the city, but who would want to wade through such traffic? Apart from being centrally-located, we provide infrastructural support, have a strong selection process and don’t keep any commissions.”

RK Mohanty, consultant gallery in-charge, Lalit Kala Akademi, says, “We receive 1000 applications in two months, out of which only 200-250 artists are selected to exhibit on a weekly-basis, during a year.” Once an artist has exhibited at Lalit Kala Akademi, he/she isn’t allowed to repeat for at least two years.
One of the oldest exhibition spaces, Triveni Kala Sangam, is also a favourite among artists with meagre budgets and want to showcase their work without sharing profits from sale. Home to four major galleries, this place is booked for the year too! “We can book you against cancellation. But there is no guarantee! Dates are available for 2017,” says Manisha Khurana, gallery in-charge.
