14 district colleges affiliated with Panjab University have officiating principals and less than 75% regularized teaching staff, leading to skepticism about implementing NEP. UGC guidelines not being followed. Regular principals and infrastructure needed for NEP implementation. 612 regular teachers to be recruited.

Centre delaying polls, claim PU senators from Ludhiana

A few PU senators from Ludhiana condemned the delay in elections alleging that the Centre is collaborating with the Haryana government and the efforts for the representatives from the colleges of Haryana to be a part of the senate have been going on

School authorities rue govt’s decision of untimely holidays

Director of Anand Isher Senior Secondary Public School, Kartar Singh, said the government should not have hastily taken this decision without any prior information; He added, “We lost out on holidays homework, parent teacher meet and other assignments; Moreover, private schools can cater to the needs of the students in this scorching heat;” He also mentioned that after changing the school timings, an untimely break was not required

Teachers of private schools are being made to conduct online classes while the students are appearing for their unit tests in an online mode, which teachers believe, is of no use and poses an additional burden on them. (HT file)

PU final year law exam: Question paper not as per pattern, say students, seek grace marks

The students of the 10th semester appeared for the examination of “principle of taxation laws” on Monday and submitted an application to the controller office the same day claiming that the paper was not as per the pattern of the university and it could cost them nearly 30 marks

There were five units in the 80 marks exam, in four units, each question carried 15 marks and the fifth unit was compulsory to attempt for the students. (HT File)

Till now, a total of 84,810 students have been enrolled across the state with 8,225 of them from Ludhiana district, which is maximum among all the other districts. Ludhiana is followed by Patiala with 7,619 enrolments and Hoshiarpur with 5,867 enrolments, so far
