MP police demand ‘better food’ than jail inmates

Policemen and women from the constable level to that of inspector, who work 15 to 18 hours a day while on special duty, are entitled to spend Rs 60 per head on food, while an inmate in the state’s jail gets daily food of the value of Rs 70 per head, according to a top police official.

The state administration gives a police personnel 10 rupees less than it spends on a prisoner, the civil force revealed to the CM, suggesting ways to boost the spirit of the staff in khaki.(AFP)

MP: 2 yrs after death, man booked for accident in Dindori village

Two years after Dindori villager Rangi Singh died, he was booked by the local police for rash driving and causing grievous hurt to four people in a 2014 road accident case. The goof-up came to light recently when a Keranjiya police team reached Singh’s house in Dindori’s Chaura Dadar village to execute the arrest warrant only to be told by Singh’s widow Kusum Kali that her husband had died in October 2012.(Illustration: Jayanto)
