Malegaon blast: NIA court starts recording statements of BJP MP Pragya Thakur, six others
On Tuesday, the accused were asked questions related to people who died in the blast and also about the nature of injuries sustained by the survivors based on the testimonies of the doctors who treated the injured persons and who conducted autopsies on the victims. Court grants bail to Sachin Waze in Goregaon extortion case
Dismissed police officer Sachin Waze has been granted bail in an extortion case involving former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh. The case has been transferred to the CBI. Waze was arrested in November 2021 and had sought bail claiming he had served half of the maximum sentence. Others accused in the case include Alpesh Patel and Sumit Singh. Waze was previously arrested by the NIA for his alleged involvement in the Antilia bomb scare case and the murder of Mansukh Hiran. He was dismissed from service in May 2021.

Dismissed police officer Sachin Waze and his co-accused planned to terrorize the Ambani family by parking an explosives-laden SUV outside their residence, according to a special NIA court. The court rejected Waze's bail plea, stating that loose gelatine sticks found in the SUV were sufficient to create terror. Waze is also accused of hiring someone to kill the vehicle owner, Mansukh Hiran. The court deemed it a pre-planned murder and expressed concerns about witness tampering if Waze was released on bail.

2008 Malegaon blast: 15 years on, prosecution closes evidence against 7 accused
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has closed its evidence against seven accused, including BJP MP Pragyasingh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit, in the Malegaon bomb blast case. The NIA informed the trial court that it does not intend to examine any further witnesses. The accused will now have the opportunity to explain the incriminating material against them. The prosecution has examined all 323 witnesses in the last five years, with 37 of them turning hostile. Lt Col Purohit's plea to recall a prosecution witness was rejected by the court.

A special NDPS court allowed Rhea Chakraborty's brother, Showik, an accused in a drugs case, to travel to Australia, stating that the right to travel abroad is part of the fundamental right to life and liberty. The court said Showik's passport could not be impounded except by the passport authority and that the Narcotics Control Bureau had not followed the proper procedure for retention of the passport. PMLA court extends Naresh Goyal’s ED custody to Sept 14
The special PMLA court in Mumbai has extended the custody of Naresh Goyal, founder of Jet Airways, until September 14 in a money laundering case. Goyal has been accused of a ₹538 crore loan fraud. The Enforcement Directorate sought custody extension, stating that Goyal had created trusts abroad to purchase immovable properties overseas with money siphoned off from India. Goyal's lawyer argued that the loans were not money laundering and were taken during an economic crisis. Goyal also pleaded for medical attention and permission to speak to his ailing wife.
