Patient raped in Karnataka govt hospital, 1 arrested

The incident happened at Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) to which the hospital is attached, and the accused was arrested on the same night, police and hospital officials said.

Two arrested for offering meat at B’luru temple, say police

On February 22, the two persons went to the temple and gave the garland to the temple assistant, requesting him to garland the idol. In the evening, when the priest took the garland to put on the idol, a piece of meat fell from the plastic packet. Immediately, the priest threw it out, and the devotees purified the temple, a police officer said.

Empty cartridges found in reserve forest

According to officials, around 61 empty cartridges were found in the Tatkola reserve forest in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district on Wednesday. The cartridges were first seen by locals grazing cows in the area, who informed the forest officials.

Forest watcher killed by wild elephant in Bandipur reserve

According to officials, Bomma, a tribal attached to the anti-poaching camp of the tiger reserve, was attacked by an elephant while patrolling on foot. Bomma and two other guards were walking in the forest when the incident occurred, they said, adding that while the other two escaped, Bomma succumbed to injuries on the spot.

Karnataka plans to install mesh to curb tiger-man conflict

Hunt on for man who stole Karnataka govt bus: Police

According to police, the bus was parked at Chincholi bus depot on Monday night by driver Ayub Khan and conductor Erappa. The bus came from Bidar. The driver and conductor slept in the restroom at the bus depot and when they came to start the trip to Bidar in the morning, they found it was not there

Two killed in elephant attack in Dakshina Kannada

The deceased have been identified as Ranjitha (21) and Ramesh Rai (55). According to forest officers, Ranjitha, who was working at Peradka milk society was on her way to work at around 6.30 am when the tusker attacked her near her house.

Tiger kills two, including child, in Coorg

According to forest officers, the tiger attacked Chetan (12), the son of a migrant labourer at Churikadu in K Badaga village on Sunday at 4 pm. Chetan’s parents migrated from Panchavalli in Hunsur just three months back for a coffee estate owned by N Poonacha. The workers were in the estate when the tiger killed the boy, playing in front of the labourer’s quarters provided by the estate owner, officers added.
