UP misery doubles in less than a year

UTTAR PRADESH is up two rungs on the AIDS ladder overtaking Karnataka and Manipur. Figures released by the Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (UPSACS) suggest that the state now has 2911 people living with AIDS ? a rise of more than 100 per cent than last year?s 1383. Karnataka (2896) and Manipur (2866) now trail UP, which is fifth on the dubious list behind Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharastra and Tamil Nadu.

Now, DCI moots grading system

THE DENTAL Council of India has planned to introduce a grading system for dental colleges in the country. Grades will be given for academic standards provided on the campus. This system will be applicable for all the 225 dental colleges in the country. The aim is to rate colleges ?A,? ?B,? ?C? or ?D? for the standard of education and infrastructure. This will also give admission seekers an idea about the standard of education and other facilities being provided by the college. Besides, the college authorities will be motivated to upgrade facilities to remain at the top.
