In a first in U.P, lioness gives birth to litter of five; two cubs survive

A lioness at Etawah Safari Park in Uttar Pradesh, India, has given birth to five cubs, but only two survived. This is the first reported case of five cubs being born in the state. The cause of death for the three stillborn or shortly after birth cubs is unknown, and an expert panel has performed a postmortem examination. The surviving cubs are in an ICU unit and their health is improving. The incident is being examined for any lapses in standard operating procedure.

Lure of lucre makes doctors ditch govt jobs in U.P.

39% of candidates selected for assistant professor positions in state-run medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh did not join duties, citing better pay and location of work in the private sector. The cancelled appointments will be re-advertised and appointments are expected to take over two months to complete. The state's medical education department is working to start one medical college in every district, with 63 already in operation and a further 16 planned on a PPP basis.

Ayurveda, Homeopathy students to soon be taught human anatomy using cadavers

Medical students in Ayush colleges in Uttar Pradesh will be able to study human anatomy using cadavers, following recommended amendments to the Uttar Pradesh Anatomy Act of 1956. The changes will have to be approved by the state government and will necessitate the provision of dedicated storage space for cadavers. The move is designed to equip Ayush students with knowledge they need to treat patients effectively, according to Dr Arvind K Verma, director of Homeopathy in Uttar Pradesh.

MBBS graduates left in lurch as 3 U.P. med colleges lack recognition

The three medical colleges from which these students pursued their MBBS course include -- Government Allopathic Medical College in Banda, Government Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital in Azamgarh, and Government Medical College in Saharanpur.

Govt to tie-up with pvt centres to reduce waiting period for ultrasound at public hosps

According to the data, Uttar Pradesh has 167 district-level hospitals, 873 community health centres, 2,934 primary health centres, 593 urban primary health centres, 18,580 health posts where over 1.5 lakh patients are seen by doctors every day and many of them are prescribed ultrasound.
