Five years on, central ayurveda dispensaries in Punjab don’t even have essential medicines

Farm fires: 32 FIRs registered in Sangrur, Barnala

The total number of stubble burning cases has reached 4,305 in Sangrur and 913 in Barnala district in this kharif season. Last year on the same day, Sangrur district witnessed 149 and Barnala 138 cases.Sangrur district on Thursday recorded the highest number of farm fire cases (135) in the state while Barnala witnessed 14 incidents.

No let-up, Sangrur again logs most farm fires

Sangrur has been witnessing the highest number of farm fires in the state for the last 8 years since the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre started mapping farm fires through satellite. Officials have termed the highest area under paddy in the district and influence of farm unions as the reasons behind the maximum number of farm fires.

Farmers at receiving end, paddy procurement stalled in Sangrur

Demanding a rollback of the decision and implementation of the old commission system, commission agents said earlier they got 2.5% of the notified MSP of the crop, but now their commission had been fixed lower at ₹46 per quintal, which is 2% of the MSP.

Sangrur admn begins process to take possession of land given to Jind Maharaja

According to an order of the Patiala divisional commissioner dated February 2, 1987, Maharaja Satbir Singh is in possession of the land by way of grant only and is not the complete owner of the land. He can only enjoy the fruits of the land until his death, following which the entire land will vest with the Punjab government.

Sangrur admn to demolish British-era hospital to construct new facility

The district administration plans to demolish a 122-year-old hospital building in Sangrur and construct a new facility with modern infrastructure and facilities in its place while keeping the same façade. The new building will have a capacity of over 250 beds and underground parking. The old building is in poor condition and cannot accommodate more beds. The health department has been assigned the task of upgrading the hospital's building.

Punjab: Medicine shortage hits drug-resistant TB patients

Government hospitals have been facing a shortage of medicines for MDR-TB for the past three months and now for the past one month, hospitals have run out of seven out of nine medicines required to treat MDR-TB patients. Doctors said hospitals are facing a shortage of pyrazinamide 750mg, levofioxacin, rifampicin 150mg, cycloserine, clofazimine, isoniazid and linezolid. Only a few hospitals that have these medicines in their stock are treating patients.
