A publishing house, namely, JR Printing Press, by allegedly using the official website of the education department, has directed the government schools to make the students purchase books issued by the agency. The printers have also warned the schools of taking the matter to higher authorities if they fail to comply with their order.

Presiding officer found drunk during polling duty

Nearly 80% voters turned out to exercise their right to franchise in 10 blocks of the district. Except for a clash between a candidate and a polling agent of the SAD in Talwandi Sallan village in Tanda block, voting remained peaceful. 3 PCMS docs shifted on fake letters,police let matter rest for three years

Three PCMS doctors in the district were transferred on the basis of forged recommendation letters of the then civil surgeon in December 2010. They joined their duties but were later told that the orders had been cancelled, as the civil surgeon Dr Ravi Dogra denied having issued the orders.

The irrigation department has been caught unawares by the sudden arrival of monsoons. Repair and strengthening of river banks was started late due to a delay in release of funds. The department had drawn a deadline expecting that the rainy season would set in in July but the early rains put it in a tizzy. Flood protection works have suddenly picked up pace.
