Loan scam: Chargesheet issued against whistleblower

The whistleblower in the loan scam that has rocked the Hoshiarpur Primary Agriculture Development Bank (PADB) has landed into trouble. Showing no latitude to her for exposing wrongdoings of her colleagues, State Agriculture Development Bank (SADB) has issued a chargesheet to PADB's former assistant general manager (AGM) Santosh Kumari, accusing her of "sleeping over" the matter for two-and-a-half years.

Prices of bricks have shot up by about Rs 2,000 following a ban of quarrying of brick earth. While there is no new production, kiln owners are cashing in by sell their old stock at higher rates. Some brick kiln owners have huge stock lying with them, but are creating an artificial scarcity to make money.

Court concerned over drug smuggling from Pakistan
