23 die as tractor-trolly plunges into pond in UP’s Kasganj

According to the police, the vehicle was carrying at least 30 people — most of them from the state’s Etah district— who were heading to take a dip in the Ganga to mark Magh Poornima

23 killed as tractor trolley overturns, falls into pond

All those in the tractor trolley were heading for a dip in the Ganga in Kasganj on Magh Poornima. According to police, there were more than 30 people in the trolley that overturned at about 10 am on Saturday but if villagers are to be believed, there were more than 50 in the ill-fated vehicle.

Malaysian women tourists wave national flag at Taj, give written apology later

The incident took place on Thursday morning at about 8 am . About six Malayasian women tourists accompanied by an Indian entered Taj. Later, a video went viral in which these women were seen holding their national flag on the pathway near the central tank.

On Basant Panchami, Agra remembers ‘people’s poet’ Nazeer Akbarabadi

Born in 1735 in Delhi, Nazeer came to Agra and lived in Noori Darwaza locality known for petha making. He was known as ‘Wali Mohammad’ initially but due to attachment with the city , he became popular as Nazeer Akbarabadi as the city of Agra was then known as ‘Akbarabad’. Till he breathed his last, Nazeer lived and loved the city despite not being well off. Religion failed to restrain his pen and what he wrote on Hindu or Muslim festivals and occasions including Holi, Diwali, Shab-e- Barat, as well as the mela (fair) of Agra is popular till date.

Three-day ‘Urs ‘of Shah Jahan begins at Taj Mahal

The proceedings began with opening of the locked passage . The ‘zayareen’(devotees) got inside and prayer was offered. The important ritual on first day is of ‘gusl’ (bathing) of the graves in the basement lying closed for nearly a year.

Plea in Agra court no bar, preparations on for Shah Jahan Urs in Taj Mahal

The three day ‘Úrs’ is an annual event organised at the Taj Mahal and the Archaeological Survey of India waives off entry ticket for this event but this time, a petition was filed in the court of IV Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) in Agra on Friday by the Agra unit of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha.

Agra court moved against Shah Jahan ‘Urs’ and free entry to Taj

The court of IV Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) Room No. 4 on civil court premises has fixed March 4 as the next date in the case. Summons will be served on the defendant through ameen (court messenger) in the case, according to counsel for petitioner Anil Kumar Tewari.

Two women devotees die in Vrindavan; cops deny crowd pressure

The Mathura police denied that the two deaths were due to crowd pressure at the temple. They said the two died at two different spots at different times . However, SSP Mathura Shailesh Pandey appealed to the aged, ill or young to not visit the temple at this time of the year when the footfall increased a lot.
