To prevent waterlogging, GMDA reviews flood preparedness

Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is taking flood preparedness measures for the monsoon season, including testing drainage systems and installing pumps at 14 locations prone to waterlogging. They will also conduct mock drills and set up a flood control office. Construction and desilting work is underway to address waterlogging issues in various areas.

ATMs without guards locked by cops in Gurugram

Gurugram Police shut down two ATMs in Sohna for not deploying security guards, as per the guidelines set in November 2019. The police have identified unguarded ATMs across the district and are taking prompt action. The ATMs should have round-the-clock security, CCTV cameras, and working alarms. Banks were asked to ensure security guards by January 1, but many did not comply. The police have issued notices and increased vigilance.

To make it pedestrian-friendly, anti-encroachment drive at Ggm’s Sadar Market

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has started an anti-encroachment and cleanliness drive in Sadar market to make it more pedestrian-friendly, following complaints of congestion and improper sanitation. The corporation has distributed over 200 dustbins and deployed 20 sanitation workers to clean the lanes. They have also constituted a special enforcement team to remove encroachments and take action against violators.

Gangster shot 30 times, Faridabad police forms SIT to probe murder case

A special investigation team has been formed by the Faridabad police to probe the murder of gangster Surajbhan alias Ballu Pehalwan. Pehalwan was shot dead outside a gym in Faridabad Sector 11. The murder was captured on CCTV, and police suspect it was carried out by members of a rival gang. Pehalwan had been living in Faridabad for the past six months. Several cases of murder and extortion were registered against him.

Ggm admin forms teams to bring homeless people to night shelters

The Gurugram district administration has formed teams to check on people sleeping in the open and shift them to the nearest shelter. The teams will visit public places and ensure that those found sleeping in the open are taken to shelter homes. The city currently has 12 night shelters, and efforts are being made to spread awareness about their availability. The district administration is also coordinating with gurudwaras and NGOs for food arrangements at the shelters.

Search continues for Sariska tiger in Haryana’s Rewari

A three-year-old tiger has strayed from the Sariska Tiger Reserve in India and is currently hiding in mustard fields in a Haryana village. Wildlife officials have set up trap cameras and deployed teams to rescue the tiger. Precautionary measures have been given to residents in case they spot the tiger.
