After the mayor reached the governor office on Wednesday morning, the governor’s officer on special duty (OSD) had informed him and the accompanying Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders that the governor did not wish to discuss the free water proposal and hence had refused to meet them

Chandigarh MC House: BJP defeats Congress to clinch senior dy mayor, dy mayor posts

With 19 votes polled in his favor, BJP’s Kuljeet Singh Sandhu clinched the post of senior deputy mayor, defeating INDIA bloc’s (Congress +AAP) Gurpreet Singh Gabi, who polled 16 votes. One vote was declared invalid. The saffron party’s Rajinder Sharma was declared the deputy mayor with 19 votes while his contender from the INDIA bloc, Nirmala Devi, got 17 votes.

Chandigarh AAP mayor’s swearing-in put off at last moment

Though Kuldeep Kumar Dhalor was not available for comment and his phone was switched off, a message circulated by Chandigarh AAP leaders on social media at 8am said, “Due to personal reasons of Dhalor, we have postponed the swearing-in till further orders.”
