Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 3,530 new Covid-19 cases with 52 deaths. The case tally has now reached 6,504,147, while the death toll stands at 138,221. Mumbai sees 367 cases and five deaths, taking the tally to 735,767 and toll to 16,033

Covid-19 cases may surge after Ganesh Puja in Maharashtra, warns health official

State surveillance officer Dr Pradeep Awate said, “We have been observing that the cases tend to increase after the festivals as there are gatherings during the festivals. Citizens tend to flout basic rules like wearing masks or maintaining social distance.”

Maharashtra aims to administer 20 million Covid vaccine doses in September

After administering a record-breaking 1,225,541 doses on Saturday, Maharashtra has set a target to inoculate over 20 million people in September, which comes to approximately 700,000 Covid vaccine doses per day from the average of 482,695 doses administered in a day in August.

MNS defies Covid protocol to celebrate Dahi Handi; workers detained in Mumbai

Maharashtra: Will celebrate dahi handi, say BJP and MNS

Even as the Maharashtra government prohibited all sorts of public gatherings such as community rituals, human pyramids and cultural events for the dahi handi festival to be held on Tuesday, the BJP and MNS announced that they will defy the Covid-19 restrictions and celebrate the festival

Niti Aayog’s Empowered Group-1, headed by V K Paul has also projected a state-wise requirement of ICU beds in different states for the third wave. As per their assessment, the most-- 33,000 ICU beds will be required in Uttar Pradesh followed by 17,865 in Maharashtra

Maharashtra records 27 new Delta Plus cases
