Haryana: Farmers feel the pinch as traders, exporters go on strike

Amarjit Chhabra, state president of the Haryana Rice Millers and Dealers Association, said, “The procurement has been suspended by the rice exporters against the government’s decision of retaining the US $1,200 per tonne, which is not justified as most of the rice is being export below US $900 per tonne”

15 new varieties of wheat, one of barley identified

As per the scientists, two high yielding wheat varieties namely HD3386 and WH1402 have been identified for irrigated timely sown and restricted irrigation conditions, respectively, for the northwestern plains zone. ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal, in collaboration with the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Rajasthan, have identified 15 new varieties of wheat and one variety of barley.

Floods, El Nino effect unlikely to impact rice output in Haryana: Experts

In the second week of July, 10,000 to 20,000 acres of standing crops were destroyed by floods in the districts of Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Karnal, Ambala and Yamunanagar.
