2 more pilots suspended for overshooting Mumbai airport runway

The DGCA’s preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that flight SG 6248, operating between Coimbatore and Mumbai, touched down approximately 4,462ft from the runway threshold, resulting in the aircraft overshooting the runway.

The two pilots operating SpiceJet’s Coimbatore-Mumbai flight, which overshot Mumbai airport’s secondary runway on July 2, have been suspended for a year by aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation(PTI)

Air India Delhi-San Francisco flight could be India’s first to fly over North Pole

Mumbai airport set to add 24 daily flights to Southeast Asian countries

MIAL is seeing an increasing passenger traffic travelling to Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, Thailand, Bangkok, among other destinations, the officials said. A total of 488,538 passengers — 669 passengers per day each way — traveled between Mumbai-Bangkok-Mumbai in financial year 2018-19.

Aviation watchdog’s report points to lapses in July 9 SpiceJet mishap

The aircraft that Rohit Pandey was working on had completed a Kolkata-Silchar flight. It had taxied out at 3.35pm and returned to the bay at 3.55pm owing to a snag.

Rohit Pandey had to be taken out after cutting the doors. The report said the landing gear door didn’t have a pin, which may have prevented it from retracting.

Mumbai airport gets body scanner at T2, trial runs to begin soon

The machine, which was put up over the weekend at the airport’s terminal two, is currently being checked for efficiency. The scanner has been installed in the security hold area (SHA) of international departure area.

Airlines allowed to use vacant slots at Mumbai airport till September

The number of daily flights operating from the city’s airport had dropped to 650 from 950 after Jet Airways stopped operations on April 17. In order to meet rising demand and to lower rising ticket fares, the civil aviation ministry allowed IndiGo, SpiceJet and Vistara to take up these slots on an interim basis for three months.

The international passenger traffic in Mumbai went up to 13.4 million in 2018-19, from 12.2 million in 2017-18. Pune recorded a 5.4% rise in international passengers – 2.71 lakh in 2018-19 from 2.57 lakh in 2017-18.

Lohegaon airport flying higher than Mumbai, Nagpur for domestic traffic

Pune’s Lohegaon airport reported an increase in domestic passengers to 7.8 million in 2018-19 from 6.5 million in 2017-18. Nagpur saw 2.08 million passengers in 2018-19, compared to 1.7 million in 2017.

Fewer delays at Mumbai airport as Pakistan partially reopens airspace for flights
