Depositors rue fate as Co-op Dept sleeps
MADHYA PRADESH, they say, is the best place to cheat unaware and economically weak depositors who invest their life savings in credit cooperative societies. The societies just need to convert into cooperatives under MP Swayatt Sahkarita Adhiniyam 1999 and they are free to flout laws or misappropriate depositors? money with no regulatory authority to keep them in check.

No info officers in courts even after 3 months
THE INDORE High Court bench and subordinate courts have not appointed Public Information Officer and Assistant Public Information Officer even after three months of the enactment of the Act. The Jabalpur and Gwalior HC benches too don?t have this provision, sources said.

RTI Act : Officials dilly-dally over providing information

Easier access to foreign liquor likely
STATE EXCISE Department will create a licence for imported foreign liquor from next financial year. The Excise Commissionerate has sent a proposal to the State Government with an appeal to amend Foreign Liquor Rules-1996 for creation of the new licence.

Pipaji, a saint devoted to social awakening
MALWA HAD been under the influence of renowned seers who, from time to time, awakened its people from dogmatic rituals and showed them the true path of religion. Aside from the king turned saint Bhartrahari and Adi Shankarachaya who weeded out unwanted elements from Hinduism at a time when worship was reduced to folk gods, the contribution of saint Pipaji in social, cultural and religious awakening of Malwa, Rajasthan and Gujarat during 14th century is no less significant.
