Behbal Kalan firing: SIT seeks more time to submit status report on allegations against ex-SIT member

Mahinder Singh, father of deceased Krishan Bhagwan Singh, who was killed in the police firing at Behbal Kalan on October 14, 2015, had filed an application in the court for recalling the order with regard to tender of pardon to prime accused inspector Pardeep Singh.

In September 2020, the then IGP and member of SIT Kunwar Vijay had appeared in the court and claimed that making Pardeep an approver would strengthen the prosecution’s case against the culprits. Pardeep was made an approver in the case. (File)

DA case: Charges farmed against Faridkot ex-MLA, 2 aides

Faridkot special judge Rajiv Kalra ordered that charges be framed against Dhillon, Gursewak Singh and Rajwinder Singh under sections 13(1) (b), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court adjourned the matter to December 8 to start arguments on prosecution evidence.

The court of additional chief judicial magistrate Monika Lamba convicted Narinder Purewal of Jalandhar, Parampal Singh of Golewala in Faridkot, Gagandeep Singh of Amritsar and Parveen Kaur alias Manpreet Kaur Dhaliwal of Moga under section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC.

The court observed that in view of the evidence, this court has reached the conclusion that the prosecution has duly proved that all the accused persons had hatched a criminal conspiracy to defraud the complainant and there is the connivance of all the accused persons in defrauding the complainant under the pretext of sending his son abroad.
