For 2nd year in row, Chandigarh sets aside 85% quota for govt school pass-outs

As per the prospectus released by the department on Wednesday, like last year’s prospectus, 13,875 seats will be on offer. Out of this, 11,794 seats will be reserved for government school students

PU moots implementing 27% OBC quota in recruitments

As per the panel’s recommendation, 27% seats are to be set aside for OBC candidates out of which 12% will be solely for those from Punjab. The dean student welfare (DSW) has handed over a copy of the proposal to the two protesting student parties -- Students For Society (SFS) and Sath Party, with assurance that the matter will be taken up in a timely manner. DSW Amit Chauhan said a meeting will be called to review both the incidents and how drivers of both the cars, who appeared to be outsiders, could enter the campus, as the entry of outsiders is banned in PU at night

Chandigarh: Mercury to touch 45°C by weekend, IMD issues yellow alert for heatwave

A heatwave is declared in the city when the maximum temperature goes beyond 40°C and simultaneously rises at least 4.5 degrees above normal, or if the maximum temperature goes past 45°C, regardless of how much it departs from the normal.

CBSE results: Chandigarh’s govt schools put up better show in both Class 10, 12

Individually, Anoop Saini of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 35-D, scored the highest marks (98.4%) in Class 10, while in Class 12, Anmol of GMSSS, Sector 16, was on the top with 97.4% marks in humanities

Panjab University approves new syllabus as per NEP

Under the new policy, candidates pursuing a UG degree can opt for different major and minor subjects; they can, if they wish to do so, exit the degree after the first year (or first two semesters) and receive a UG certificate
