After Rajgir and Gaya, Ganga water set to reach Nawada

The project is a a part of the Nitish Kumar government’s ambitious Ganga Water Lift Scheme (GWLS), conceived under “Jal Jivan Haryali Abhiyaan” to supply clean and safe drinking water to the water deficient places like Rajgir (Nalanda), Gaya and Nawada through pipelines from Hathidah at Mokama in Patna district.

VTR records 75% jump in tiger count, has 54 now

Bihar's Valmiki Tiger Reserve has seen a 75% increase in tiger count, from 31 in 2018 to 54 in 2022, and has been declared "very good" by the National Tiger Conservation Authority. The reserve is the only one in Bihar and is located in West Champaran district. The increase in tiger population is seen as an indicator of the health of the forests. The NTCA report also praised the reserve for its management of human-animal conflicts and efforts to stop poaching and wildlife trafficking.

Rajgir forest fire under control: Officials

A fire in the forests atop Vyohargiri hills in Bihar was brought under control on Tuesday by a team of firefighters and forest guards. The district administration is monitoring the area with drone cameras and has appealed to locals to report any incidents of fire or smoke. The forests are a source of rare herbal plants and trees and have a good population of wildlife. The cause of the fire is suspected to be visitors leaving behind burning match sticks. The situation is now under control.
