Minister Maluka, his men ‘manhandle, abuse’ cop on duty at Modi’s Bathinda rally

Kanwaljeet Singh said, “I was at the gate along with other cops. As Maluka arrived , the driver brought his car right in front of the gate. I told them that they need to park the car at the parking place and will have to walk from there. The driver didn’t stop the vehicle and almost tried to run me over. I had to jump aside to save myself.”

Cong’s Punjab poll manifesto is ready: Manpreet

Amid murmurs of opposition by Congress leaders in Bathinda after Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh said that he would recommend former finance minister Surinder Singla’s name as party candidate from Bathinda (urban) seat, senior party leader Manpreet Singh Badal has reiterated that he will contest the election from whatever segment the party will ask him to contest.

Manpreet, who was here to meet the protesting employees of the Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant (GNDTP) here on Tuesday, said that he hadn’t applied for party ticket from any assembly segment and would go wherever the party would ask him.(HT File)

Freezers of Bathinda mortuary non-functional, building cries for maintenance

Two of the four freezers at the Bathinda civil hospital mortuary are non-functional, while the building too needs maintenance. The capacity for now is six. There is no place for kin or attendants to sit, except two benches under trees nearby. Water leakage from the roof makes it vulnerable in the rains. Cleanliness is a casualty, as a garbage dump has developed there. Toilets are a nightmare.
