Traffic violations by e-rickshaws see spike in Delhi: Cops

Delhi's electric-rickshaws have seen a significant increase in traffic violations this year, with a 53% spike in infractions compared to last year, according to Delhi Traffic Police data. The most notable increase in violations was obstructive or improper parking, with 70,463 offences registered this year compared to 35,828 in 2022 and 19,357 in 2021. The Delhi transport department prohibited the plying and parking of e-rickshaws on 236 roads in the city last year.

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has given approval for the filing of a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the Delhi high court's July judgment, in which six accused in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots were acquitted. The case pertains to attempt to murder, looting, and rioting during the riots in the Saraswati Vihar Police Station area in northwest Delhi.

ED looks into FIR against NewsClick to probe financial crimes

The Enforcement Directorate is studying the FIR filed by Delhi Police against NewsClick and its founder under the anti-terror law to see if an additional case is made out against the news portal. The federal agency is already investigating the funding of NewsClick and has seized the founder's flat. Delhi Police had registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against the website after a report alleged it was part of a global network to spread Chinese government propaganda.
