Rise in swine flu cases in December reports Private hospitals in Noida

Of the total seven cases in Noida this season, five fresh cases were reported in December. Additionally, two deaths were reported in Noida after the patients were diagnosed with swine flu.

In the winter season in 2017, the district had 63 cases. Unofficially, private hospitals said that over 25 cases have been reported in the district this year.(Hindustan Times)

Over 25,000 birds arrive at Okhla Bird Sanctuary

An official said that already around 20,000-25000 birds have visited the Okhla Bird Sanctuary, while last year about 16,000 birds were seen during the entire season.

Noida administration may book repeat offenders for continuing to pollute city

In a first, the Noida administration on Saturday started prosecution proceedings against two government organisations, the two biggest pollution violators of the district . About 25 violators were also arrested last week for causing pollution and not following the norms set down by the National Green Tribunal.

Noida traffice police to send postcards of e-challans to violators

The move is expected to reduce expenses on postal fines and would help intimate more violators. As of now, owners of only those vehicles that have been registered after April 2017 receive text messages on the Vahan application.

The fine is sent to violators via courier and that costs about <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>40 per person. Switching to general post would reduce the cost to <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>6. The postcards, however, will cost 50 paise each.(HT Photo)

Noida air quality in ‘emergency’ category

The reading at 10am at the Sector 125 monitoring station in Noida was 280 for particulate matter (PM) 2.5 and 534 for PM10 on Tuesday. The AQI goes to the ‘severe+’ category when either PM 2.5 value is recorded higher than 300 or PM10 value is higher than 500.
