Bihar govt to table caste survey report in House today

The findings of Bihar's caste and economic survey will be presented in the state legislature for discussion. The winter session of the legislature has begun. The finance minister has also presented a supplementary budget of ₹26,086 crore for approval. The government has tabled a bill to impose 28% GST on online gaming. The session is expected to be stormy with the opposition BJP raising questions on the survey's authenticity and other issues.

Caste survey puts OBC count in Bihar at 63.13%

Backward communities make up around two-thirds of Bihar's population, according to the results of a landmark caste survey. The survey, which is the first of its kind since Independence, revealed that extremely backward communities account for 36.01% of the population, while backward castes make up another 27.12%. Other backward classes (OBC), which include backward castes and EBCs, constitute 63.13% of the population. Upper castes make up 15.52% of the population. The survey could have significant political implications for Bihar and spark demands for expanded reservations for OBCs.

New rule for registration renewal of older vehicles

Earlier, older vehicles were offered re-registration facility after vehicle’s inspection and verification of documents by the MVI only. The DTO was the final authority to accept or deny re-registration
