UP government’s indebtedness set to go up three-fold

The state’s fiscal deficit which was ₹32,513.16 crore (3.40 per cent of the GSDP) in 2014-2015 is expected to go up to ₹86,530.51 crore (3.46 percent of the GSDP) in 2024-2025.

Aiming high, U.P. to unveil over 7 lakh crore budget for ‘24-25

The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to present its largest ever annual budget of over ₹7 lakh crore for 2024-2025, with larger allocations for infrastructure development and possible populist announcements ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The budget is expected to focus on infrastructure, tourism, and welfare measures for farmers, youths, and women. However, funding such a large expenditure will be a challenge, possibly requiring increased borrowing by the state.

Budgetary provisions: UP depts have barely used 50% of funds

The govt was able to spend ₹4,915.27 crore of medical education dept against the provision of ₹11,141.24 cr while the backward class welfare dept spent ₹762.35 cr against the provision of ₹1,566.82 cr
