Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor of Rock On fame says he had his heart set on the script of his next movie, Kai Po Che, right since the beginning. The director, who was earlier making films with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel entertainment says, “They didn’t like the idea behind the film. I had my heart set on it and I approached UTV, who were also keen on making the movie.”

Kapoor, whose film is based on famed author Chetan Bhagat’s novel, The 3 Mistakes of my Life, also says that Chetan Bhagat will get due credit of the film. “He was involved in the discussions and he was happy with the idea and my version of it. I introduced a lot of new adaptations around the basic plot provided by Chetan’s books. He knows it and is happy with it.”, says Kapoor. The director also explained the meaning of the title of the film. “It is a phrase, a sort of a victory shout in Gujarati.”

Kapoor was also pleased with his cast and said that even hot weather didn’t matter to the actors. “Every day, we shot in fifty degrees and yet the cast was always up to it. They had a great time jumping and singing on the sets.” He also added that since most of his cast was from the television world, he didn’t have any problem in guiding them with acting directions. “Of course, TV and films are two different media but the basic remains the same. Everyone in my cast is a phenomenal actor and I didn’t have to do much in telling them how to go about their respective roles. They add value to the screen and I think they have great future ahead,” says Kapoor.

Asked about the much rumoured Rock On 2, the director refuses to reveal much about it and only confirms to us that he is ready with its script so far. “This is not the right time to discuss about it. The script is done though,” he signs off.
