Jimmy Shergill may not be a potboiler type, but he is one of the few actors in Bollywood who has experimented with a wide variety of character roles. This time around, the 41-year-old actor is set for a brow-raiser — he is playing an out-an-out baddie.
Jimmy will be seen in an absolutely “evil” role in filmmaker Kabir Sadanand’s upcoming movie, Fugly. The actor says this character is very different from his last major villainous outing — in Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007).
“In Eklavya, the character was different. It was still a very grey part. This one, he is completely evil in terms of the script. And there are no reasons given to answer why he is evil. He has his own reasons and that’s why he is like that,” he says. Jimmy may look like an unlikely ‘evil’ candidate given his rather charming and clean screen past, but that is precisely why he seems to have been chosen for the part.
“I wanted someone who was not evil on the face. And Jimmy is like that, he is not negative on the face,” explains Sadanand, revealing that his character is based on a real person. “I cannot reveal the identity (of the real-life inspiration behind the character) but his role is about a man who was somewhere at the back-end of the administration and then in a span of eight years, became really famous with his work in the real estate sector,” he says.
