In a chat with Hindustantimes.com, actor Abhay Deol and his co-star girlfriend Preeti Desai speak about their upcoming film One By Two, being a celeb couple and his association with big brother Sunny Deol.
Abhay Deol's film One By Two hits the theatres this Friday.
Of late, the actor has been in news for reasons other than the film though.
After sporting a black-eye at a recently concluded award function, Abhay Deol posted his views on Facebook against the music labels that do not respect musicians' rights.
Speaking to Hindustantimes.com, the actor and his co-star girlfriend Preeti Desai talked about their upcoming film, being a celeb couple among a host of other issues.
On being a celeb couple
Hrithik Roshan's separation from his wife and Sunanda Pushkar's death remind us of the pressure under which celeb couples survive. Abhay Deol, however, feels being a celeb couple has its pros and cons. "You can complain about lack of privacy but you can't complain about the fact that you can jump queues being a celeb. Everytime they come up with reason to complain, I come up with positive reasons," says the actor.
Girlfriend as co-star
Being in a relationship to working with his girlfriend, Abhay seems to be managing both. Talking about the experience, he says that it is difficult to be professional with someone whom you know too well. "But we managed to keep it professional on sets. Also, in our case, you will see more chemistry onscreen than what exists off it," he added.
Preeti, on the other hand, seemed to be happy to be with Abhay, "It was great working together. He is the experienced actor and I am the one starting off. I wanted to keep it professional. It was quite easy, we could just concentrate on work (winks)."

On One By Two
On One By Two Abhay said, "One By Two is about two strangers who have an impact on each other's lives. It looks like a rom-com as they call it but it is quite the kind of films Abhay Deol is known for."
A pakaoed film?
When asked why should someone watch a pakaoed film (the trailer says Abhay's character is pakaoed {bored}), Abhay said, "It is the character who is pakaoed, not the audience. I think all of us at some point have felt that way, if not used the word. So I guess people would love to watch this person who is pakaoed of the same things that they are."
On playing a loser
"It was a challenge to play a character who is such a loser. Just like with Dev D came out, people asked me why would someone love such a drunkard, chauvinistic pig of a guy. But at least Amit Sharma (Abhay's character in One By Two) is not a Dev D," the actor added.
Abhay, the producer
Talking about his future films, both as producer and an actor, Abhay Deol said he doesn't mind producing formula films. "As a producer, I am more flexible than I am as an actor. I am obviously attracted to the kind of films I act in but as a producer I would be as inclined to make the usual Bollywood films, cast stars if they fit in and make money," he said. However, he added that he will continue to support and work in intelligent cinema.
Going the ‘Sunny Deol’ way
When asked if would act in films his brother Sunny Deol is associated with, Abhay said, "People will laugh at me if I do such films! Does this look like dhai kilo ka haath (gesturing towards his arms)?"
