Actor Freddy Daruwala was to make his debut in a film called Sher alongside Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi but due to legal trouble, the film got shelved.

Model-turned-actor Freddy Daruwala fluttered the hearts of his female fans with his suave looks in Akshay Kumar-starrer Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, where he played an antagonist. But not many would know that he’s had a very unusual start in the film industry. The 32-year-old was to make his debut in 2012 in Soham Shah’s film, Sher that also had Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi in lead roles, but due to legal issues, the film could never see the light of the day.

“It was a disastrous experience and I started on a bad note. There’s no hope of that film coming back or releasing ever now. But it taught me a lot of life and I thank my stars that my so-called first film didn’t sabotage my career,” says Freddy, who was last seen in John Abraham-starrer Force 2.

The production house fell into legal troubles, borne severe financial losses and eventually got shut down. They never could rise up after that.

Ask him to recall his experience of sharing the same frame with Dutt almost five years ago, and Freddy says it was quite a different side of his life. “I started shooting with Sanjay Dutt in 2012 before signing Holiday and we had finished 85% of the film but production house fell into legal troubles, bore severe financial losses and eventually shut down. They could never rise up after that,” says the actor who will be seen next in Commando 2 starring Vidyut Jammwal and Adah Sharma.

Rubbishing reports that Sher got shelved because of Dutt’s imprisonment, the actor clarifies, “None of that is true. Only reason why the film couldn’t be completed was totally because the production house fell apart. They didn’t pay our money and didn’t release the film either. They had filed for bankruptcy and banks had seized their properties. It was quite an ugly shutdown.”
