With only two days left for the first session of 14th Punjab assembly - beginning on Monday - Congress seems in complete disarray, failing to even elect its Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader.
Apparently unable to recover from the shock of defeat in the assembly elections, Punjab Congress has not even taken the first step of convening a meeting of its 46 MLAs.
According to veteran Congress leaders, if Congress fails to elect the CLP leader, it will be for the first time that the assembly proceedings will be held without a Leader of the Opposition -another embarrassment for the Congress after its humiliating defeat at the hustings.
The session will begin at 2pm on March 19, with the first two days fixed to administer oath to newly elected MLAs. Speaker will be elected on March 20, and the Governor's address is slated for March 21. A vote of thanks on the Governor's address will be adopted on March 26.
