PU also fared poorly on the research parameter. Its score was 14 and only two universities, JNU and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), are behind it with a score of 12% and 11.3%, respectively, among all ten Indian institutes.

The research category was an important element and carried 30% weightage in the overall score. The university is also behind other institutions when it comes to income from projects undertaken in collaboration with industry as compared to IITs. PU’s score was 28.4%, almost the same as that of Jadhavpur University and AMU whose score was 28.2%.

JNU and IIT Delhi have not shared their industry income details. This category had weightage of 2.5% in the overall score of any university.

Scoring 84.7% in the category of citation, PU ranked highest in citation among Asian institutions and this is what has contributed to its current rankings. Other varsities have scored poorly in this category.
