Total 3,471 students representing all 10 regions of CBSE, including Chandigarh, participated in the initial elimination rounds.
Total 20 teams reached the semi-final round and four have qualified for the finals.
The motive behind the inter-school quiz was to promote heritage and generate awareness on the cultural diversity of India among students. The quiz also aims at highlighting the folk and traditions of the country.
The quiz followed a comprehensive selection process involving written examination followed by three rounds of quizzing. The final phase of the competition will be concluded on Saturday.
The first phase started in the first week of September and continued till mid October. Three students from each school represented their team at city level.
In the second phase, qualifying teams competed at the regional level which started in mid November and continued till first week of December.
The third phase, which is national level quiz competition, included semifinals which were held in mid December last year in which 20 teams from 10 competing regions were divided in five groups of four teams each. This phase also includes finals between four teams which are scheduled to be held in New Delhi on Saturday.
Arvind Goyal, a local academician, said: “It is very important to make youths aware of their culture, heritage and traditions.
Such competitions generate respect for nation among students.”
