Only online counselling this year at PEC, five other tech colleges

Five engineering and an architecture college in the region will conduct only online counselling for admissions this year. Around 2,500 seats are to be filled through the new system this year.

Five engineering and an architecture college in the region will conduct only online counselling for admissions this year. Around 2,500 seats are to be filled through the new system this year.

The colleges that are part of the Joint Admission Committee (JAC) conducting these admissions are Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh (formerly known as Dept of Chemical Engg & Technology); University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh; PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh (formerly Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh); Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Sector-26 Chandigarh; University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University SSG Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur; Chandigarh College of Architecture.

“The admission process will start at 10 am on Sunday. For the first time, the entire counselling process will be conducted online only,” said JAC in-charge and chairperson of SSBUICET, US Shivhare.

Admission to various courses in these institutes is given on the basis of final merit in All India Engineering/ Architecture Entrance Test (AIEEE).

Online challans can be downloaded up to July 13 and printouts can be taken up to 5 pm on July 14. The students can give their preferences between July 15 and July 18.

Three sessions of online counselling will be held and the JAC plans to complete the process by August 3.

Students will have to take admission by August 4.
