Secondary education budget: New schools, self defence classes on list

The board was headed by Vrinda Sarup, secretary, (school education and literacy) in New Delhi. RMSA looks after the development of the students studying in secondary classes.
According to the budget copy, Rs 255.4 lakh have been approved on account of civil interventions including Rs 58.1 lakh for new schools.
As much as rs 142.1 lakh has been set aside for strengthening, rs 70, 000 for equipment of inclusive education for disable students. Around rs 25 lakh is for the equipment under vocational education and non-recurring component of information and communication technology for rs 29.5 lakh has been approved.
Financial support to seven special educators for a year has been provisioned, rs 38, 000 per month with a total outlay of rs 32.172 lakh.
A grant of rs 43.5 lakh has been approved for total 87 government schools, which have secondary education which means Rs 50,000 will be granted to each school.
In order to provide support to 1,026 children with special needs, rs 30.8 lakh have been approved in the budget this year.
Activities including survey, providing assistance devices, and certification will be managed from the respective fund of CWSN (children with special needs). Moreover, rs 5 lakh has been approved for the projects for tracking out of school children with special focus on CWSN. rs 6.99 lakh have been approved for the training of 233 In-service teachers and rs 3.79 lakh have been approved for professional development program of 79 head masters in government secondary schools.
PAB has approved rs 22 lakh for initiating the project of remedial teaching for students achieving low grades with focus on science and mathematics.
This project was initiated by the UT education department for learning enhancement of the students enrolled in secondary education especially SC, ST, OBC and minority as the dropout rate in Classes 9 and 10 has been increasing.
Total rs 7.83 lakh have been approved for self defence training for girls and rs 3 lakh have been approved for project on promotion of art and culture. PAB has requested the education secretary to complete and monitor large backlog of the incomplete civil works.
“Emphasis should be given to quality learning outcomes through timely recruitment of teachers against vacancies,” stated the PAB.
PAB has directed the UT administration to give a written commitment for meeting its share of the converged Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan scheme of the budget approved accordingly to prescribed sharing pattern of the schemes.
