Providing details, deputy commissioner of police (south-east) C K Baba said the alleged incident took place in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday when the woman was sitting with a male friend in a park in National Games Village (NGV) at Koramangala.

“In her complaint, the woman said she was with her friend and was smoking a cigarette on Sunday night when one of the accused came to them and objected. An argument broke out following which the accused threatened her friend and chased him away,” the DCP said.

“The woman also said that the accused then called three others who arrived in a car and dragged her inside,” the DCP added.

The accused then drove to Domlur, Ejipura and Hosur Road, and even to the outskirts of the city and took turns to rape the woman before dropping her near her house at around 3.30am, the officer said.

“Around 3.30am, the accused dropped her near her house. On Monday, after undergoing treatment, she lodged a police complaint,” the DCP said.

The accused were identified as Vijay, Sridhar, Kiran and Satish – all aged between 23 and 24 years.

On the basis of the woman’s complaint, a first information report (FIR) was registered under sections 376 D (gangrape), 376 (rape), 373 (kidnap) and 506 (criminal intimidation) among other sections of the Indian Penal Code.

“We formed two special teams soon after the survivor filed a complaint and nabbed all the four accused within nine hours. The test identification period of the accused people and other procedures are pending, so we cannot reveal more details about them,” the DCP said.

Police said while the woman has no links with the accused, she may be familiar with their faces as all of them live in the same locality.
