CM Bommai shared a video of the PM at the inauguration ceremony of the The Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, which is a free-of-cost medical college and hospital. PM Modi also took to Twitter to say he was “elated” to be in Karnataka.

The PM harped on the greatness of Sir M Visvesvaraya and lauded the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research for taking on the initiative to provide free medical education. He also said there were less than 380 medical colleges in India in 2014 and now that number has increased to more than 650.

PM Modi then arrived in Bengaluru to inaugurate the 13.71-kilometre (km) stretch of the Bengaluru metro's phase 2 extension project from the Whitefield (Kadugodi) metro to KR Puram.

CM Bommai shared visuals of the PM arriving at the Whitefield metro station and buying a ticket to the metro ride. Modi then rode the first metro ride on the new stretch, and interacted with people from different walks of life, from construction workers, metro employees to students.

The stretch was built at a cost of around 4,250 crores in a bid to ease mobility issues and curb traffic congestion in the city.

PM Modi is set to inaugurate a three-day mega event in Mysuru on April 9 next. His recurrent visits to Karnataka come in the backdrop of crucial assembly elections in the state, due in May.
