Faridkot : Congress’ Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Chaudhary said the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha shows fear of BJP-led central government.
A meeting of party office-bearers of eight districts of Punjab was held in Bathinda under the banner of “Samvidhan Bachao Campaign” to protest against Rahul’s disqualification.
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu also attended the meeting among others. “The BJP is foreseeing its defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabka elections,” Chaudhary said.
“I want to tell the Prime Minister that the newly constructed parliament building will look beautiful only if every member of the House is allowed to speak. The voice of the Opposition should not be suppressed,” he said.
The Congress will hold protest meetings in every constituency of the state till April 8 against disqualification of Rahul Gandhi. People across Punjab will be made aware of the anti-people policies of the central government,” said Warring.
Warring also demanded a compensation of ₹30,000 per acre to farmers who have suffered crop damage due to rain and also asked the state government to announce ₹1.2 lakh relief for houses damaged during the recent thunderstorm.
