Addressing a press conference at state party headquarters Rajiv Bhawan in Shimla, Singh claimed that while Congress has become the voice of farmers, horticulturists, workers and the common man, the Prime Minister is busy benefiting his crony capitalist friends.

She alleged that Congress had set up many public sector enterprises in the country after Independence, which the PM had sold to his friends.

Pratibha Singh said, “The BJP targeted Rahul Gandhi as part of a well-planned conspiracy, as he was asking questions to the Modi government at the Centre on the Adani scam in the House.”

She alleged that just nine days after Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Parliament on the Adani scam, the defamation case against him was resumed. The hearing of the case began on February 27 and on March 23, the trial court convicted Rahul Gandhi and sentenced him to two years in jail.

“Not only this, within 24 hours on March 24, Rahul was disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha and then he was issued orders to vacate the government house allotted to him,” alleged the state Congress president.

She said that this was for the first time in the history of the country that a Member of Parliament has been awarded the maximum punishment in a defamation case.

She said that part of the speech given by Rahul and Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Adani inside the House was also expunged.

She said, “Not letting the House run by the ruling party was a part of the BJP’s well-thought-out strategy to evade the questions raised by Rahul.”

She claimed that when Rahul wanted to clarify his position in the House on one of his statements given abroad, even after his request to the speaker of the Lok Sabha, he did not even get a chance to speak, and he has now been expelled from the membership of the House.

She said that the Congress party was holding a series of press conferences across the country at the district level to expose the “BJP conspiracy” so that the public knows the truth.
