The staff at the central jail here recovered 5 mobile phones, over 2,000 intoxicant pills and tobacco sachets during special checking at Ludhiana central jail.
The contrabands were found abandoned in the jail.
Assistant jail superintendent Inderpreet Singh said that on March 31, they conducted a surprise check in the jail. During checking, they found 5 mobile phones, 2,567 intoxicant pills and 113 sachets of tobacco.
Singh said that they wrote the Division number 7 police to lodge an FIR.
ASI Davinder Singh, who is investigating the case, said that an FIR under sections 22, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act, sections 42, 45 and 52 A (1) of the Prison Act has been lodged against unidentified accused.

On March 29, the jail staff recovered as many as 12 mobile phones.
On March 24, as many as 24 mobile phones and a charger were recovered from the jail.
On March 17, 6 mobile phones from inmates were recovered during special checking.
