Firing at Salman Khan’s house: HC seeks status report on custodial death probe

One of the accused behind firing at Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s house was found dead in the toilet of Mumbai crime branch’s lock-up on May 1. The police claim it was a suicide but deceased’s mother asserts that he was killed by cops in custody.

On April 14, two motorcycle-borne persons opened fire outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra area of Mumbai.

Cabinet nod to Haryana Police rules

An official spokesperson said that the police personnel of Indian Reserve Battalions in the rank of head constables, C-1 constables and exemptee head constables/ constables shall be given an option to merge in district police (general cadre) after completion of 15 years of satisfactory service, including completion of their Phase-I and Phase-II training.

Why don’t farmers protest against AAP govt over MSP bonus: Jakhar

According to Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar, the AAP government in Punjab promised to pay ₹20,000 per acre compensation for crop damages during floods last year but the farmers received just ₹6,800 per acre which the Centre had allocated out of the disaster relief fund.

The state BJP chief underlined a slew of “farmer-friendly” measures initiated by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, seeking to debunk the “false” narrative being scripted by AAP and Congress in Punjab to divert attention from their “failures”.

The BJP, which won two seats in the 2019 elections in alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has replaced both its sitting MPs, actor Sunny Deol and Union minister Som Prakash, from Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur.

The Congress, which had the highest number of seven sitting Lok Sabha members in Punjab, is left with just two of them — Gurjeet Singh Aujla from Amritsar and Dr Amar Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib, in its line-up.
