Fielding media queries after attending closing ceremony of a police martyrs’ cricket tournament at Kathua, the DGP said, “Pakistan’s internal situation is very bad. They should better look after their home and they should be ashamed of their deeds of pushing terrorists, drugs and weapons into Jammu and Kashmir.”

The director general of police (DGP), Dilbag Singh on Thursday said that an “imploding” Pakistan should look after its “backyard” than pushing terrorists, drugs and weapons into Jammu and Kashmir.

He, however, said that counter-terror operations were on and the remaining foreign terrorists will soon be eliminated.

On border security, the DGP said that border security grid was very strong and better than before.

“We are setting up police posts along the borders and they will soon be made functional. Security forces on the border are already performing their duties professionally,” he said.

“Infiltration has reduced and remaining terrorists will be soon dealt with. Some infiltrators were responsible for Dhangri attack on January 1 (killing of seven Hindus). They had come from Pakistan and killed innocent people but our police and security forces are on the job,” he said.

On the arrest of a freelance journalist in Kashmir, the DGP said that whosoever was found involved in anti-national activities, will not be spared.

“Law is same for everyone, whether journalists or others. The action followed because it was found that he was running Pak’s terror narrative,” he added.

The DGP also said that besides terrorism, J&K faced another challenge of drugs from Pakistan.

“Besides terrorism, drugs smuggling (as part of narco-terrorism) is another sinister design of Pakistan. They smuggle drugs and weapons into J&K via borders and in recent times by drones. However, police and security forces are regularly foiling their attempts,” he said.

The DGP also said that there was a need to identify smugglers and agents in society, to put an end to the point-to-point delivery.

“We are working on it to break this network. Besides choking the supply chain, we need to ensure that demand is also put to an end. We are successfully running drug de-addiction centers in Jammu, Srinagar and at six other places,” he said.
