The direct contest between the BJP and AAP-Congress alliance for the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi witnessed a turnout of 56 per cent on Saturday. Delhi had recorded 60.52 per cent voting in the 2019 general election when the BJP had swept all the seats.

However, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat, who had gone to exercise her franchise at St Columba's School in the New Delhi constituency, alleged she had to wait for almost an hour to cast her vote as the battery of the EVM control unit at her polling booth "drained out".

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said that at 37.31 per cent, the highest turnout was recorded in the North East Delhi constituency while Chandni Chowk had the lowest voting percentage at 32.18.

Slamming the former Pakistan minister Fawad Hussain over his remark on the general elections in India, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the situation in Pakistan is very bad and he should take care of it.

In a post on X, Pakistan ex-minister Fawad Hussain while reacting to Kejriwal's post on voting said, "May peace and harmony defeat forces of hate and extremism."

Reacting to it, Kejriwal said, "Chaudhary Sahab, I and the people of my country are fully capable of handling our issues. Your tweet is not needed. The situation in Pakistan is very bad right now. You take care of your country."

During the sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, the national capital recorded a voter turnout of 34.37 percent till 1 pm.
