PM Modi to host Delhi cops on G20 duty

Nearly 250 Delhi Police personnel, from the chief of police to constables, will participate in an interaction hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam and will be followed by a cultural event and a special dinner. A total of 3,000 people, including functionaries from various ministries, will participate in the programme.

The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the now-concluded G20 Summit. (ANI)

Don’t discontinue services of House fellows, says Delhi HC

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claims that a Delhi high court judgment proves that the lieutenant governor misused his powers by terminating the services of 17 fellows from the Delhi Assembly Research Centre. The court has directed that the services of the petitioners be continued until December 6.

E-bikes, cycles to give last-mile connectivity a boost across Delhi’s Dwarka

The transport department in Delhi plans to deploy 3,000 e-bikes and e-cycles across Dwarka sub-city to serve as last-mile connectivity options. The vehicles will be placed at transit hubs like metro stations and bus stops. The department has floated tenders for high-speed and low-speed electric two-wheelers and will conduct a study to finalise docking station locations. The initiative aims to improve connectivity and promote green mobility in the area.

Errant staff at Mohalla clinics taken off duty

26 staff, including 7 doctors, have been taken off duty at seven mohalla clinics in Delhi after they were found manipulating the attendance system. They were marking their attendance significantly late or fraudulently at 8am. The health minister said strict action will be taken against any irregularities found in government hospitals or mohalla clinics in the future. Delhi currently has 500 operational mohalla clinics that provide free primary healthcare services.

Among the seven mohalla clinics, five are located in the south-west district, one in the north-east district, and remaining one at the Shahdara district. (ANI)

Clear debris, prune trees on Delhi’s arterial roads in 10 days, says PWD

The engineer-in-chief of Delhi's Public Works Department (PWD) has directed all divisions to complete civil and beautification work, including pruning trees and fixing potholes, by September 30. Any laxity will be taken seriously and action will be taken against officials. PWD roads require tree pruning and the removal of trees affecting traffic. A special team has been formed to monitor the work daily.

MCD to appoint expert for road sanitation work in Delhi

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi plans to hire a consultant for ₹62 crore to help mechanically clean and scrub 1,400km of arterial roads in the city. The consultant will be responsible for dividing the roads into zones, preparing estimates, finalising bids, and overseeing the project's implementation over the next 10 years. The project aims to achieve 100% wall-to-wall mechanical sweeping of roads and improve sanitation services in the city. The total expenditure over the next decade is estimated to be around ₹19,466 crore.

The civic body currently has a fleet of 52 mechanical road sweepers, while the city’s inner colony road network (5-60ft) is cleaned daily by 50,000 sanitation workers. (HT Archive)
