Delhi government launches portal for ‘green internships’
Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai has launched a new portal for internships with the Delhi government in the fields of environment and forest. The portal aims to make youth aware of the functioning of the forest and wildlife department and to contribute to the ecological security of Delhi. The government has a plantation target of 5.2 million saplings this year.
During the fourth Van Mahotsav plantation programme held in the Capital on Sunday, Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai launched a new portal through which those interested in the fields of environment and forest can apply for internships with the Delhi government, he said.

The event on Sunday was held at the Delhi University Polo Ground. MLAs from the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, local resident welfare associations (RWAs) and children from eco clubs joined the minister in planting native saplings.
“From the Polo Ground of Delhi University, the forest department is launching an internship portal: https://internship.eforest.delhi.gov.in. This is for all those who are interested in the environment and forest fields and the main objective of this portal is to make today’s youth aware about the functioning of the forest and wildlife department,” said Rai on Sunday.
“Through this portal, they will be able to contribute to furthering the ecological security of Delhi. Along with this, the programme will help enable the youth to explore their interests in the field of forest and wildlife and it will also create awareness about green jobs,” the minister said, adding that the website has all information on how one can apply for an internship.
The Van Mahotsav drive began from July 9 onwards with a plantation event planned every Sunday across Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha constituencies. Three more such plantation drives are planned in the coming weeks.
Rai said the government has a plantation target of 5.2 million saplings this year. In addition, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will plant 5 million shrubs.
