We encourage adoption of pets all year round. But when it comes to café options for a gala day out with your pooches, there exists a vacuum. On International Dog Day, today, we give you a low-down of pet-friendly cafes and retreats in Delhi-NCR where your pups can have a ball.

At Bark Street, a Noida-based dog-friendly cafe, pet lovers can get acquainted with Bunny, Doobie, AJ and Tofy. “What started out as a desire to create an inclusive environment for doggo-human socialisation has now taken shape into a larger vision of creating value in a community,” says Somya Singhal, co-founder of the eatery, adding, “You can choose from a yummylicious menu that includes Barkstreet Chicken, Pupizza and organic whole wheat pasta. Our cafe is a safe haven for all things dog, designed to pamper dogs and their owners with a delicious gourmet fare.”

The Big Tree Cafe on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, offers ample space for pets to roam around. There’s also Throttle Shrottle Moto Café on Gurugram-Faridabad road, where doggos can indulge in a menu that comprises chicken bowl, vegetable bowl, dimsums and scrambled eggs at a pool party. Amit Kumar, its founder, says: “Our staff is trained to handle different kinds of pets. We also have a team of well-trained, super energetic pets who will ensure your pets have a good time.”

Primarily catering to pets is Puppychef Pet Café, Hauz Khas. Their elaborate menu includes Salmon Cutlets, Tofu Cookies, pizzas and much more. Talking about the inception of this cafe, Harjeet Makhija, its founder, shares: “Wherever we travelled abroad, we noticed pets were welcomed in cafes, even in metros and buses. A trip to Korea added to the idea of providing fresh, healthy gourmet food for pets.” Makhija adds, “Our café has a party zone and photo booth, we also organise birthday parties for pets, with some games and toys alongside an exotic menu comprising teacakes, cereal, porridge, pasta and pizza. Also, there is a range of dog accessories and toys available. Pet parents, too, can enjoy some quality time here.”

If a weekend getaway is on your mind, Fur Ball Story Pet Retreat, a pet-friendly farmhouse in Gurugram’s sector 63 is a place where one can avail hydrotherapy for their pooches. There’s also an agility training garden, kennels with private gardens for each dog as well as restaurants for doggos and their hoomans.

“Starting September, we will open India’s first pet-friendly fine dining with a stand-up comedy act,” informs Animesh Katiyar, its founder, adding, “We offer customised meals for pets. The customer will have to first choose the base — paneer, chicken or mutton. Then, they can add vegetables such as carrot, pumpkin, bottle gourd or peas. There’s also the option of adding curd and rice.”
