Gurugram: Unidentified suspects were booked for allegedly committing a burglary at the residence of a senior scientist of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Sector 27, Gurugram police said on Wednesday.
Police said the victim, a director-level officer of a DRDO laboratory, was out of station from February 12 to February 18, when the incident took place.
Investigators said the scientist had returned home on February 19 morning and found his entire house ransacked. They said the suspects are yet to be arrested and they entered the house from the back door.
Police said the suspects might have kept an eye on the locked house before targeting it. “The scientist had sent an email to the Gurugram police commissioner on February 19, informing about the incident. An officer from DLF police station in Sector 29 had visited the house to probe the case,” a senior police officer.
Police said four gold bangles, one gold ring, a gold chain, an opal stone and ₹10,000 cash were stolen from the residence.
An FIR was registered under Section 380 (theft from dwelling house) and 457 (lurking house trespass by night) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at DLF police station on Tuesday, police added.
Subhash Boken, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said an investigation is underway to trace and arrest the suspects at the earliest.
