Gurugram: A woman had a narrow escape after two unidentified suspects allegedly shot at her while she was cooking dinner in her Sector 9 residence on Wednesday evening, Gurugram police said on Friday. Police said they are yet to identify and arrest the suspects.
The victim, identified as Sarita Sharma, in her complaint said that the main gate of her house is visible from the glass window of the kitchen and she spotted two unidentified men standing there at around 7pm. Police said as soon as she opened the gate to question the suspects, they shot at her and fled from the spot.
Sharma said that her husband was in the drawing room when the incident took place. “I told him that there was someone at the gate, but he asked me to go and check. The men were restless and were in a haste. As soon as I opened the gate, they shot at me but luckily the bullet missed my head,” she said.
Sharma said she immediately raised an alarm. “My husband and neighbours rushed out but by then the two suspects had fled from the spot. They also threatened me and told me that they will kill me soon. We do not have any personal or professional enmity with anyone and I have no clue about why they shot at me,” she added.
Following a complaint from the victim, a case was registered against the two unidentified suspects under Section 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (common intention) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the Arms Act at Sector 9A police station on Thursday, police said.
Manoj Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Sector 9A police station, said they are scanning CCTV footage of the area to identify the suspects. “We have recorded the statements of the victim and her neighbours and will identify and arrest the suspects soon,” he added.
