The students of Bengal’s Visva-Bharati university have been staging an agitation since February 28 demanding reopening of the hostel that was closed down during the Covid-19 pandemic.

West Bengal civic polls: Counting of votes today

The polls were held on February 27 with nearly 95 lakh people exercising their franchise to decide the fate of more than 8,000 candidates. The civic body elections were earlier scheduled to take place on January 22 but got delayed due to the worsening Covid-19 situation.

The civic body elections were earlier scheduled to take place on January 22 but got delayed due to the worsening Covid-19 situation across India fuelled by the Omicron variant. SC refuses MHA offer, rejects BJP plea on central forces for Bengal civic polls

After student leader is killed in Howrah, students block road in Kolkata

Kolkata businessman lynched near city; villagers say they mistook him for a thief

Mukherjee, who lived in the Netaji Nagar area of south Kolkata, rode to Begumpur on his motorbike with his childhood friend, Priyanka Sarkar. She did not suffer any injuries in the incident which took place around 2 am, officers involved in the probe said.
