Ahead of PM visit, BJP leaders launch cleanliness campaign in Kashi
A BJP leader said Kashi was also counted in the ranking of the cleanest cities in the country because of the effective implementation of Swachh Bharat.
Ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to the city this week, ministers and other leaders of the ruling party on Tuesday took up a campaign to clean ghats and key intersections in Varanasi.
Kashi region BJP president Mahesh Chandra Srivastava was taking part in the three-day drive from Assi Ghat, from where PM Modi had launched the nationwide Swachch Bharat campaign in 2015.
Srivastava said, “The dream of ‘clean Kashi, healthy Kashi’ is due to inspiration from prime minister Narendra Modi. Today, we cleaned Assi Ghat. A similar drive was carried out in 100 localities of Kashi by our party workers.”
Along with Srivastava, UP BJP Spokesperson Ashok Pande, ministers of state Ravindra Jaiswal and Dr. Dayashankar Mishra (Dayalu), and MLAs Neelkanth Tiwari and Saurabh Srivastava also participated in the drive from different locations of the city.
Mishra said Kashi was also counted in the ranking of the cleanest cities in the country because of the effective implementation of Swachh Bharat.
